How Many Countries Have I (Mikayla) Been To?

Let me start by saying, I LOVE TO TRAVEL! Is it obvious by this site? My husband Chris also likes traveling a lot too and we both love traveling together, but…I started this journey way before we met! I feel this list below of countries I have been to is representative of not just Europe or Mexico, but an entire sampling of WORLD knowledge and experiences. I have visited the North and South of Africa, the Middle East, Central America, Europe, Asia with high hopes of getting to all 7 continents in my lifetime!

So, just how many countries have I been to?

Well, so far, as of May 2024, I have visited 18 countries! By the end of the year it will be 25 (the ones in bold are my upcoming trips!)! I am hoping by the end of my 30th birthday in 2025 (right before I turn 31, I will have visited 30 countries!)

Here is the list!

  1. Kenya, Africa – my first ever time out of the country in college! Safari and visiting villagers while tent camping in a foreign country, a memorable trip!
  2. Amsterdam, Netherlands – Flowers and windmills, doesn’t get much better!
  3. Bahamas – Stunning Caribbean destination.
  4. Canada (Victoria, Yukon, Toronto, Calgary/Banff) – One of my favorites! The wildness of the Yukon and the natural beauty of Banff, this must go on your list!
  5. Mexico (Mexico City, Merida, Cancun, Tulum) – You really can’t go wrong with these destinations close to home.
  6. U.A.E. (Dubai & Abu Dahbi) – Such an explosion of cultures, like the NYC of the Middle East.
  7. Oman – One of my favorites! The fiords of the Musandam Peninsula are amazing.
  8. South Africa – One of my favorites! Safari, Cape Town, penguins, Cape of Good Hope, Kruger National Park….I would go back in a heartbeat.
  9. Mozambique – You want off the beaten track? This country is for you!
  10. France – Paris really is the city of lights and the food is amazing.
  11. Ireland – Visit a pub, see the Cliffs of Moher, explore the countryside, may the luck of the Irish be on your side!
  12. Scotland – The highlands and whiskey…could you ask for more? (oh and the highland cows)
  13. Sri Lanka – One of my favorites! Wild and chaotic (probably not for first time international travelers) but naturally stunning!
  14. Maldives – The water color is UNREAL and spending time in an overwater villa is a once in a lifetime experience.
  15. England – Close to home, but far away (love the accents and architecture). Feels familiar, yet some thing is different.
  16. Egypt – If you are a history buff, this must be on your list! Luxor, Cairo, cruising the Nile is not to be missed.
  17. Costa Rica – SOOO much outdoor adventure (not just stunning beaches, but cloud forests, jungles, and volcanic hot springs too!)
  18. Qatar – An amazing country in the Middle East, full of culture! Visit the spice souks, gold souks, take a desert adventure!
  19. Singapore
  20. Indonesia
  21. Malaysia
  22. Borneo
  23. Thailand
  24. Cambodia
  25. Turkiye (Turkey)
